India Women’s Cricket team whitewash West Indies 3-0

Vedia Krishnamurthy hit a strokeful half century before left arm spinner, Rajeshwari Gayakwad pulled off a brilliant spell with an impressive figure of 4/34 as India defeated the side from the Caribbean by 15 runs in a ICC Women’s Championship series match.

India putting on to bat first managed to get 199 on the scoreboard, thanks to Krishnamurthy’s valiant fifty followed by debutante Devika Vaidya’s unbeaten 32 off 45 deliveries. Other notable scorers for India were veteran Jhulan Goswami with a 16 ball 18 and opener Deepti Sharma scoring 23.
West Indies chasing did make a decent start but could not really managed to get themselves over the finishing line as they were bundled out for 184 in 49.1 overs.Thanks to Gayakwad’s gutsy spell, Kycia Knight and Hayley Matthews among the notable ones made well fought scores of 55 and 44 respectively along with Merisaa Aguillera scoring 22 for the visitors.

As the series is part of the ICC Women’s Championship and thus this 3-0 whitewash gives 2 points to India.
